A Stack of Words

This is a drink I came up with to accompany my Spotify playlist also named Tequila Sunset. I wrote an article about it earlier this week that can be found here.

  • 2 oz Don Julio Blanco tequila
  • 1 ounce Saint Germain liqueur
  • 1/4 ounce Chambord liqueur
  • 2 ounces Champagne
  • Stir tequila and elderflower liqueur with ice.
  • Strain into glass.
  • Layer Champagne and add raspberry liqueur using a bar spoon.

It’s a nice and refreshing drink for warm summer nights. It’s simple enough to throw together without much notice or bar equipment.

While I prefer Don Julio any other silver tequila should work. Don’t use Patron or Jose Cuervo, however, I don’t have any reason in particular but I think you should love yourself more than that. You’re better than those “tequilas.”

St. Germain is an elderflower liqueur that has warm floral notes you can pair it with any sparkling wine or champagne and drink it chilled. For more information on the liqueur that I’ve only recently become acquainted with here’s a Huffington Post article that I found helpful. Purchase St. Germain here.

As far as Chambord is concerned that’s just a name brand raspberry liqueur. For a more cost conscious decision you can go to any local liquor store and grab the first raspberry liqueur you see… if won’t be as smooth however. Purchase here.

Champagne is simply the term I’m using for sparkling wine. Champagne is only produced in the town of Champagne in France. If it’s produced anywhere else it’s considered sparkling wine. Shop here for options.
